Pathways to Success Curriculum
This mandatory one-year program consists of writing skills (ENGL0001), quantitative skills (MATH0015/0021), an orientation to university studies (UNIV1005), college reading (UNIV0008), and approved electives in several different academic disciplines. Students who are placed into Pathways to Success will follow a prearranged set of classes as indicated below and are permitted to enroll in a maximum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Courses in regular text are Pathways to Success core courses and must be completed in the sequence shown with a grade of C or better to progress to the next Pathways course. Courses in italics are general education courses (consult the current LSU Eunice Catalog for appropriate prerequisites).
Other program components include mandatory orientation to the university and program, required class attendance, tutoring, and academic advising. Students may contact the Student Success Center at 337-550-1206 for more information.
Approved Electives
*Pre-approved elective courses may be taken according to one's major field of study. These include:
3 hours from:
- ART 1440 Historical Survey of the Arts I or
- ART 1441 Historical Survey of the Arts II or
- ART 2470 Survey of 20th Century Art
3 hours from:
- HIST1001 Western Civilization to 1500 or
- HIST1003 Western Civilization Since 1500 or
- HIST2055 The United States to 1865 or
- HIST2057 The United States from 1865 to the Present
Introduction to Business - 3 hours
Fundamentals of Communication - 3 hours
Introductory Sociology - 3 hours
General Biology - 3 hours
Introduction to Psychology - 3 hours
The Academic Advisor can use professional discretion on a case-by-case basis to schedule a student for an elective outside of the aforementioned pre-approved options. The rationale for any deviation should be documented in the student's advising notes.
If a student needs to be full time (e.g. athletic compliance) and has completed a majority of the core courses, elective selection can deviate from the pre-approved electives outlined above.
Program Completion
After a student has completed and/or tested out of UNIV1005, UNIV0008, ENGL0001, and MATH0001/MATH0015/MATH0021, he or she has successfully completed the Pathways to Success program.
